How pending changes and Optimizer History work in eclean

Pending changes are the safety checkpoint between choosing Optimizer tweaks and applying them to Windows. Optimizer History is the record you use afterward to see what eclean attempted and how Windows responded.

If something behaves unexpectedly after applying several tweaks, use history to identify the last changes and revert them one at a time.

How pending changes work

  1. Toggle a tweak: Open Optimizer and turn a tweak on or off.
  2. Open the pending changes pill: Review the list that appears before applying anything.
  3. Remove unwanted changes: Cancel or discard changes that should not be applied.
  4. Apply when ready: Click Apply and confirm any warning dialog.
  5. Wait for completion: Let eclean process the changes.
  6. Review history: Open Optimizer History to see completed, failed, blocked, unsupported, or unverified results.
  7. Restart if needed: Restart Windows or Explorer when a tweak requires it.

What the result statuses mean

  • Completed: eclean applied the change and Windows reported the expected state.
  • Blocked: Windows permissions, system policy, antivirus, or another system tool prevented the change.
  • Unsupported: The tweak is not available on this Windows installation, build, or component set.
  • Failed: eclean attempted the action but the command or Windows API returned an error.
  • Unverified: eclean attempted the change, but Windows did not confirm the final state.

Why restarts matter

Some tweaks write settings that Windows only reads on the next Explorer restart or PC restart. If history says the action completed but the behavior still looks unchanged, complete the required restart before applying more unrelated tweaks.

Technical deep dive

Pending changes are stored and checked against the Optimizer tweaks available in your current app version. If a tweak no longer exists, does not apply to the current Windows build, or is blocked by policy, eclean avoids treating it as a normal successful change. History records the result so you can see whether the issue came from eclean, Windows, permissions, support checks, or verification.
