Whitelisting eclean with your antivirus software

Because eclean performs deep system scans and cleans out files to optimize and maintain your PC, some third-party antivirus programs might mistakenly flag it as suspicious. This is known as a "false positive".

If eclean is failing to open, crashing, or unable to complete a scan, your antivirus might be blocking it.

We're asking you to whitelist eclean since we know our software has no ill intentions, but as a general rule for your PC's health: always research what you're exempting before bypassing your antivirus. Only add exceptions for software published by developers you explicitly trust!

How to add an exception (whitelist) for eclean

While the exact steps vary depending on which antivirus software you use (e.g., Windows Defender, Bitdefender, Norton, ESET), the general process is the same:

  1. Open your Antivirus software.
  2. Navigate to Settings or Preferences.
  3. Look for a section labeled Exceptions, Exclusions, or Allowed Threats.
  4. Choose the option to Add a new exclusion/exception.
  5. Select Folder and navigate to the eclean installation directory. By default, this is located at: C:\Program Files\eclean
  6. Save your changes and restart your computer.

Once the eclean folder is excluded from your antivirus scans, the software should run normally. If you continue to experience crashes after whitelisting the app, please submit a support ticket.
