# How to use Optimizer

Optimizer is the eclean area for reviewing and applying supported Windows tweaks. These tweaks can affect privacy, performance, updates, user interface behavior, optional Windows features, network behavior, battery life, and other system settings.

Because Optimizer changes how Windows behaves, review each tweak before applying it. Toggling a tweak only adds it to pending changes. eclean applies the change after you review the pending list and click **Apply**.

### How to use Optimizer safely

1. Open the eclean desktop app.
2. Go to **Optimizer**.
3. Start with recommended tweaks if you are new to optimization.
4. Read the tweak title, description, category, warning labels, current state, and restart requirement.
5. Open the information panel when you need more detail.
6. Add only the tweaks that match your goal.
7. Review the pending changes list before applying.
8. Apply the changes.
9. Restart Windows or Explorer if the tweak says a restart is needed.
10. Test the affected feature before applying more tweaks.

### What you can review before applying

* **Categories:** Optimizer groups tweaks by Privacy, Security, Performance, Usability, Features, UI, Battery, Network.
* **Warning labels:** Some tweaks are marked **Breaking**, **Beta**, or **Energy draining**.
* **Restart requirements:** Some changes require a Windows restart or an Explorer restart.
* **Compatibility:** Some tweaks only appear on supported Windows builds or devices.
* **History:** Optimizer History records completed, blocked, unsupported, failed, and unverified results.

### How to undo a tweak

Open **Optimizer**, turn off the tweak you no longer want, and apply the pending change. You can also open **Optimizer History** to review earlier changes and revert from there when history has enough restore information.

||| Do not apply every tweak at once. Start with the smallest set of changes that matches what you want to improve.
